FAQs
Our FAPS cleaning and regeneration process manages to eliminate all residues, including oil and cerium residues, preserving the noble metals that are part of the particulate filter.
What is the FAP/DPF?
FAP is called the anti-particle filter integrated in the catalytic converter (exhaust pipe) of the vehicle that traps the carbon particles generated in the combustion of the engine.
The particulate filter manages to capture close to 99% of polluting particles, and this component is usually mounted in both diesel (diesel A) and gasoline engines in order to comply with European regulations on atmospheric emissions.
Normally it is possible to know if the FAP is dirty when the warning light on the car’s instrument panel comes on.
The symptoms of a dirty FAP can also be intuited when we appreciate a lack of power or an increase in fuel consumption in our vehicle.
It is important to take into account that, depending on the use and the way of driving, the FAP may have to become clogged to a greater or lesser extent.
With normal use and driving and without mechanical or sensor factors influencing, the most common is that the FAP particulate filter can last from 150,000 to 200,000 km without generating saturation or clogging problems.
Although, from UBEMAR FAP we recommend being attentive to the symptoms that can tell us that the anti-particle filter needs cleaning in the workshop to avoid greater evils.
Driving with a dirty particulate filter (that is, largely clogged) can cause direct problems in the car’s engine, such as turbo failure, engine oil contamination or mechanical damage to internal friction parts.
If the FAP contamination warning light comes on, you should go to the workshop as soon as possible to clean and regenerate the filter and return to practically factory emissions values, thus avoiding causing a major breakdown in the vehicle.
At UBEMAR FAP, we use a process that our experience tells us is the best way to clean and regenerate the anti-particle filter.
It is a FAPS cleaning system based on high pressure fluid recirculation.
After verifying the filter, the model is programmed on the control panel of our washing equipment specifically designed with a sealed system that allows ecological cleaning, and launches a jet of water at a temperature of 90º (together with a series of special products for decarbonization) that propel particles out of the filter. This action is performed for 30 minutes.
Finally, the particle filter cleaning process ends with drying with hot air and checking the pressure that guarantees the correct finish.
Additionally, there are several other less efficient and more polluting FAP cleaning techniques such as ultrasound, chemical additives or pyrosis – oven.
The price to clean and regenerate up to 100% of the contaminant particle filter varies depending on the type of vehicle (tourist car, industrial car, van, truck, bus); the brand – manufacturer and model (Audi, Mercedes, Seat, Renault, Ford, Nissan, BMW, Opel, Citroen, Skoda, Volkswagen, MAN, Iveco, Volvo, Skania, etc.)
Each filter has a different physiognomy and characteristics that must be adapted to the regeneration process.
